comment Updating SRID (Update_GeometrySRID) does not alter polygons (when it should)
Hey @user30184, you can do it in GDAL or Proj4, but you can do it on the fly with QGIS. My suggestion above will allow for an interactive exploration of CRS, which is, in my view, an easier way to try to troubleshoot the issue.

comment Heatmaps: right terms (isopleth vs choropleth, etc) and how to implement a value-based one that looks good?
I'd load the points in PostGIS and then use QGIS to make a raster then. You can use GeoServer to style the raster after that. Or you could then polygonise it and have your vector contour areas as your data that's styled in GeoServer. Note that yo ucan export QGIS styles to SLD, which works around 90% (but keep the styles simple!). SLD is hard to learn, but good enough.

comment CartoDB latlon change to lonlat
Hmm. Can you point to a reference to the insert statement doco for CartoDB? If they are returning a bounding box with two latlng coordinates, I would expect it to accept a latlng as a point to insert. Otherwise, just get the values out as I've shown above and build the data structure CartoDB needs!

I don't think you read my suggestion. Try changing the SRID in QGIS, play around with a few. Maybe call up someone involved with the original data.

What's your actual problem? Does the map.fitbounds function not work? Or are you trying to store lat/lng values somewhere?

comment Open Source equivalent to Collector for ArcGIS to use with QGIS/PostGIS?
@Quicke, I have played around with Collector, and you really do need ArcGIS Desktop to set up the forms. You don't need ArcGIS Server, though.

comment Getting WFS data from Geoserver into leaflet
Hi @MattT, glad you like it! It (the WMS/WFS combo) is the best way to get performance and interactivity at scale, aside from MapBox/CartoDB's magic vector tiling. I messed around with WFS-T some time ago, but it wasn't finished (and I didn't have time to finish it). Does it work now? And Leaflet Ajax is fine, I guess that'll do a new query for each pan? I've got a generic interface here that you can point at a GeoServer endpoint and load all the layers in: github.com/alexgleith/bootleaf_gs - what it needs is better 'onclick' function, that puts returned data into a nice popover.

Good answer. The other option is using JSONP from GeoServer, which requires that option to be enabled in the XML file for GeoServer.
