Plotting Smith and Sandwell global seafloor topography grids SaultDon,Thanks for your suggestion. I actually managed after all to get the .grd file out through Cygwin library. However the problem is with processing with the actual dataset - it is in a spherical Mercator projection which is tricky to work out in ArcGIS. I work with topo11.1 img (+.ers) dataset version. So the next step is to work it up into a correctly projected and valid GIS format. Any suggestions??? Many thanks! |

IDRISI .vec file translator to ESRI shapefile format? Many thanks for your response. I am in the process of installing the software. In the meantime, another issue came out, which is related to the actual dataset's format. IDRISI .vec dataset hasn't got any .dvc file associated with it so it is pretty much unusable. I've found another software which reads this format called Cartalinx, but it didn't read it. As my dataset is not complete, I suspect that SuperMap won't read it either... I tried searching for a .dvc file on the web but as this is quite old format, I couldn't find much. I will post an update if I resolve this. |

Simplify Raster Contours ArcGIS 10 Thank you for all your advices! I used the 'Aggregate' tool to reduce the resolution first and then did the contour again. This worked perfect for me! |

Create metadata for multiple datasets simultaneously in ArcGIS 10 Thanks for your answer. Fortunately, the dataset I'm working on is not too extensive so I can do it manually within few hours. But question arises when the dataset is large. Something for Esri to think about.. |
