I'm not sure how the snapping option will change the pre-existing data. Please consider expanding the question clearly answering the OP's question.

comment How much time is spent in the office, compared to out in the field?
I'm afraid that this question is far too broad; There are many kinds of jobs in GIS, and each of them have different requirements. There are some people who have no field work, some which are exclusively on the field, while many lie somewhere in the continuum. So if your question is : Are there any Jobs with no field work, the answer is Yes; But whether there exists such a job for you, with your skill sets, and in your locality, that would be impossible to answer.

comment Openlayers - Many broken tiles with vmap WMS in EPSG:900913
Just so that you know, these tiles are from osgeo, and there is no guarantee that they will always work. If you want to use tiles in a production environment, you should host your own tiles, or use a service which has a SLA

comment How to apply a specific Rendering to an Image and export to JPEG?
This works for me, except for one small thing. My IMG is 250 px*250 px. I want to make a Jpeg of twice that dimensions, i.e. 500px*500px. Can you tell me how I could do this?

comment Sorting points to flight path route
Sorry If I came off rude; That wasn't my intention. I'm trying to say that your requirement is vague. Even with the latest image, I can think of several lines that could be drawn. It might be easiest to solve, if you could manually number the points. Code could then be written which creates a line based on the numbering that you have provided.

comment What are the equivalents of ESRI products in open source for Web Mapping?
Unfortunately, Open Source is not an Monolithic entity like ESRI, and there isn't one single place where you could get all the information. You need to search at various locations and individual websites. The closest you could get is a site like GIS.Stackexchange, which has information about various different softwares.

comment Sorting points to flight path route
When we are dealing with computers, we need to tell them exactly what to do. your current requirement is rather vague. snake like path can mean different things in different contexts. Do you always have an exact rectangular array of points? You need to give more details, and need to be more specific than this. What attributes do your points have? Do you want to do this only on the basis of geometry? what have you tried so far? where are you stuck?
