comment OpenStreetMap or Google Map Maker: where should I donate and volunteer my geographical knowledge?
All I'm saying back is that I get to use Google maps, for free.

I don't really care one way or the other, I was just offering an opinion. Let me offer one more: Noting google's presumed motives was aimed at reassuring the question-asker that ma and pa mapmaker wouldn't be getting a $20,000 bill from Google because they wanted to put a map on their website. On your other point, I think you may have just inadvertently made a case for Google maps. True, time and effort are limited. With my limited time and energies I could update 1000 points in Google, or 100 in OSM. I'll take Google, thanks.

comment Is there any way to suppress the calculate field dialog box in arcpy script?
Just to be clear: this script was generated via modelbuilder 9.x and was only slightly modified for features like overwriteoutput and stuff like that. I upgraded it to arcpy when we migrated to arc10 on the apps server a few weeks back and it's been giving me trouble ever since.

The line above is what generates the prompt. The actual code that sends the prompt is built into arcpy.

Chad - See the edit to my original post. You are correct; all it's doing is prompting me to continue even though the field name gets too long for the calculator.
