How can I clone or duplicate a feature within a feature class Thanks - I had been trying to achive this by copying features selected in the attributes table, not the feature itself. It seems so obvious now. |

ArcGIS exporting files to Access 2007 I wouldn't recommend a file geodatabase if you want to connect to it via Access - it just doesn't work |

Select only features within the layout view Fair point - I've come to Arc from Mapinfo and still use some of the Mapinfo terms. I've edited accordingly. A tool layer is not a script tool though, it is a tool that has been placed on the table of contents and is run each time the mxd is opened. |

Examples of Beautiful Maps The shadings are indicating the bathymetry. The points indicate areas where the company has data. I'm not sure about the orange overlay - perhaps just for visual appeal. The target users do not need any more info about the map, they are only interested in the highlighted points and already understand what they mean. I just haven't seen a representation of bathymetry in this way before and thought it looked intersting. |

georeferencing aerial photos with only known centroid That seems like a good idea, but you'd have to use an image editor to mark the centre of each photo first, otherwise you wouldn't know which point to georeference. |

converting data from excel into shapefile help the 53056257 may be 53°56'E, 62°57'N, but that's not very accurate, even for 2D seismic, so there must be higher accuracy coordinates somewhere else |

How to make a group of polygons larger? Good question. I hadn't heard of scaling before - it should be part of the buffer tool in my opinion. |

How to make a group of polygons larger? 10: To use the Scale tool, you must first add it to an ArcMap toolbar from the Commands tab of the Customize dialog box. The Scale tool is found in the Editor category. Click the Edit tool on the Editor toolbar. Click the feature that you want to scale. Click the Scale tool on the toolbar to which you added it. Move the selection anchor (the x), if necessary, since the feature is scaled based on the selection anchor's location. Drag the pointer over the feature to scale it, or press the F key to set a scale factor. Release the mouse button when you are finished scaling the feature. |

Do you know a fairly up-to-date ArcExplorer tutorial video for non-gis staff? There are free youtube downloaders available which you could use at home then bring to work. Or ask your IT department to grant access for training purposes. |

Label inside top left corner of polygons Thanks for taking the time to edit the initial answer - I hadn't thought of using object info. |

Label inside top left corner of polygons It looks like that may be what I'm after. I guess it'll be a question of pricing (for something that should be included in the first place). |

Label inside top left corner of polygons That only allows you to chose the placement relative to the centroid from what I can see. I thought there may be an aftermarket add on or tool to do what I want. |

Why won't ArcMap 10 snap? It seems to me that the lack of snapping can be associated with certain MXD files - I just rebooted and still couldn't snap, yet took the same features into a new MXD and the snapping worked. so there must be features in the original MXD that aren't compatible with snapping, or maybe it is just a bug. |

Simple way to have an offline web based map? It said web PAGE, not web based, and specified no internet access so I assumed that meant server based (or local), which would be okay for mapwingis. I've used it in a form in an Access database and can't imagine it would be any more difficult to implement in a web page. |

Can you override ArcGIS GeoPDF layer names from within ArcGIS According to the ESRI doocumentation exported PDFs do have georeferencing information, but since I don't have any software that will read a PDF it's a bit hard to check. |
