comment How to build pgRouting with CGAL?
No need to reboot. And if you build a package from source you always need *-dev packages.

It will not solve your problem, but never run cmake (or make) as root. It may cause unexpected problems, and is a bad practice anyway.

comment Problems with NA values when reading .DEM file with R 'raster' package in Windows
In fact you can combine both methods (this answer and my/roberts answers): r <- raster('E020N90.DEM') and then run values(r)<-readBin("E020N90.DEM", "integer", size = 2, signed = TRUE, n = nrows(r) * ncols(r), endian = "big") and then values(r)[values(r)==-9999]<-NA

Supply more info: which installer did you use? How did you start apache? How did you test apache? Check the apache logfiles: what do they say?

comment Is it possible to create 3D dxf with OGR?
As far as I can tell this will work for contour lines, but not for true 3d-lines, which have a (x,y,z) coordinate for every point, and not one z value for every point of the line

in principle you could run gdaltranslate through R using system2.

comment How to join multiple records to single feature?
What is the end-result you want to achieve? Even if you manage to do a join, do you want to present it on a map? Do statistics? Depending on that, different workflows may be followed, but using a database is usually a good idea if you want to make joins.

comment Land Cover Feature Extraction from Satellite Imagery
Provide more info (in your question, not in comments) what exactly the features are that you want to extract. Apart from that: if there is an overlap in the signal (see nasa link) of different land-use types (or whatever you are mapping), automated classification will not work well.

This approach uses only one raster - which is usually insufficient.
