I love it when one of my old ignored questions gets an answer. And a great thorough answer as well, thanks!

comment A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding
Ahh fair enough. 5 vectors should be fine, depending on how complex they are. I did find a page somewhere that allowed you to test how well OL performed with different numbers of vector markers, but I can't find it now. If I do I'll let you know.

comment Openlayers Auto Pan when drawing
There might be a way round it, but I imagine it would require a lot of custom scripting and adding your own event listeners to the map for when you reach the edge and being able to handle the window losing focus etc. and I imagine it would be a fair chunk of work. Still, if you did and it was good enough you could merge it into the OpenLayers branch or submit it as an extension

+1 CQL filters are tricky buggers. Casing has tripped me up a few times, as has encoding.

comment Use of OpenStreetMap France in another country
Wonderful, and good work! I only plan on using it for zoom 19 and 20 and its in an application that doesn't get masses of traffic so it should be kind on your server. Currently it's still only deployed in our development environment until we get our own WMS serving up these zoom levels. Thanks again.

comment Openlayers multiple zoom problem
What version of OpenLayers are you using? I know there have been various tile queueing enhancements in the more recent ones. There are also various options that you can set that might help, but I can't say without knowing which vesion of OpenLayers you are using.

Argh, I tried to find that list of osm based services on the wiki but couldn't, good find. The watercolour one is awesome as well.

I always find I work better if I just leave a problem and come back to it later! Glad I could help.

comment Openlayer seems slow when zooming / panning on vector (geometry line) from geojson. Why?
What browser are you using? Internet Explorer (especially 8 and older) can become a bit slow with complex vector objects, which is why we tend to use WMS instead. I didn't personally get any issues when using IE8 and Firefox. On IE8 it was initially unresponsive when I clicked on the list item but after that it was fine.

Weirdly, if I tab until I am focused on the OSM copyright, then you can use the keys. Odd. I'll post up what we did in a minute It'll probably take a bit ofwork to convert it to use with yours, but it should get you started.

comment OpenLayers With UK Ordnance Survey Maps
We reprojected our OS data into 900913 so we could use it with OpenStreetMap and it worked out alright. There is a slight quality loss when it reprojects it into a round globe, but it's not too bad.

comment OpenLayers With UK Ordnance Survey Maps
@user19742 See BStones answer, there is no custom code needed, just a regular OpenLayers WMS call to either your own WMS with OpenData loaded on or Ordnance Surveys OnDemand WMS. We've done it in our own Web Map Application Dorset Explorer 3 using a mix of OpenStreetMap basemaps and Ordnance Survey stored on our own WMS

comment Suggested ways to do a Google-Earth-like fly-to-the-location effect with OpenLayers?
Oh yeah, I wouldn't upgrade, especially since it is still in Alpha. I was just thinking that if its feature you aren't too bothered about for now and could maybe implement it whenever OL3 is released, save writing something yourself to do it. I guess if you had the time you could dive into the OpenLayers 3 code and see how they do it? I haven't looked myself.

comment Showing a point shapefile with raster layers in geoserver
Welcome to GIS.SE!If you can add a few more details about your GeoServer setup (e.g. version). Also can you explain what it is not showing in? Is it not showing in the layer preview, or do you have an application that is reading them. Saddly I can't see your image as I am behind a works firewall at the moment :/
