Since my layer is based on a view, I "solved" it by adding this column: color2hex(cast(round((rating / 200.0 + 0.5) * 255) * 65536 + round((rating / -200.0 + 0.5) * 255) as integer)) as color With a custom SQL function. Hardly a "clean" solution though.

I could just add 21 rules for every decile (and 0) but that seems like an awful lot of work!

A response from Andrea himself, neat :-) The border issue makes sense. Luckily I only need to fill it, not draw its contour. Do you happen to know if PostGIS has built-in functions that can make this kind of partitioning easy? Doesn't need to be very efficient since this is a preprocessing step.
