comment Sort polygons from north to south in QGIS using 'graphical modeler'?
Does this question deal with similar issues? gis.stackexchange.com/questions/44440/…

Will you manage the server? IMHO, setting up the server and managing it is the tedious bit. I wild ass guess that setting up the server for Goecortex is not trivial either.

You will end up with a timeseries of data (temporal)? What is the analysis you want to perform (GIS is for spatial data)?

What is the end goal? Not sure why you want this data in a gis system? What spatially referenced data are you using and how will it be combined? Maybe you should do the gis stuff first, make an image and add any squares or rectangles to that.

I am not familiar with Illustrator, I use nitroPDF and it reproduces the fonts fine and allows editing. You might also try Inkscape and the GIMP but I can't speak from experience about them. Which font in particular?

comment Why do layers appear in the wrong order in QGIS 2.2?
There is a also a panel for setting the layer order. View panels. Then there is a toggle to have layer order managed separately to tree order.

Not sure what you mean by "paths"? There is a setting to print as raster, normally this is off, which is how you should have it.

comment QGIS convert attribute table to point shape
@Mapperz comment should be an answer, after opening the layer as a Delimited text csv, you would then save it as a shapefile. Likely you don't need to manipulate the file. WGS 84 should work. What format is the long lat information in the file?

Do you use Atlas to do that?

comment How can i change the geometry of an existing layer?
The key problem you are describing seems to be that you don't have a "common attribute". If that is the case then you can only really associate the points by proximity (closeness or a specified distance). Or associate them manually. Expand on your question with more information about your data, how many points, what info is in the attributes. Also see this for a similar problem gis.stackexchange.com/questions/89122/…

comment How do I add coordinates to a polygon layer to be able to sort the polygons from north to south in QGIS?
OK, for that (in hindsight) in the original file of the polygons, I create an explicit index column. Using the FieldCalculator, I make a new text column called 'index' with the value of the row number $rownumber from the record section of the function list. That give 1, 2, 3, etc. When you carry out the create centroids step, that index (and all other attributes) will be inherited into the attribute table of the new shapefile. You could then create a 'Join` LAYER|PROPERTIES|JOINS based on the index. Reopen the attribute table and you will see new columns with the values from the centroid.

comment Does OpenStreetMap have property boundaries?
In Australia, it seems that Google ingested the Digital Cadastral Database (DCDB). Usually you have to buy it, although not a big cost to Google I spose. A new development is that Land and Property NSW is making the data free and much more accessible. See globe.six.nsw.gov.au

comment How to change a CSV layer attribute value from text to number - once again?
I am not clear what the problem is that you are encountering. I don't use csv-t at all and successfully import csv. If I have troublesome files I view and edit them in Notepad++.

comment QGIS 2.0 Automatic generation of a vector layer out of a point layer
OK, if you have the data "pipe AB goes from hopper A to B" then this is an index. You can avoid MMQGIS and go straight to the Points to Paths plugin. If the index is indeed AB then you will likely need to amalgamate the values A and B on the target points (hoppers?) so that the same value "AB" is on each of the ends of the new line. Note that the source data may have been directional, i.e. line 1 started at A and ended at B, so really the index needs to be 1A 1B, but you may not be trying to reproduce the directional nature of the line? In GIS lines are directional but points are not.

Are you familiar with the Atlas feature in the QGIS Print Composer? You would create a specific layer based on your Split Vector Layer to guide Atlas.
