comment Add layer to open mxd using ArcObjects from outside the map document crashes ArcMap
Tried to add atext element as described and it still threw an error. pFact = CType(pApp, esriFramework.IObjectFactory) graphicsContainer = pMxDoc.ActiveView.GraphicsContainer textElement = CType(pFact.Create("esriCarto.TextElement"), esriCarto.ITextElement) graphicsContainer.AddElement(textElement, 0) pMxDoc.ActiveView.PartialRefresh(esriCarto.esriViewGraphics, None, None). Next I added an empty layer with no data source and used mapAdmin2.FireChangeFeatureClass(OFL, NFC) to assign a data source. ArcMap started and then crashed and shut down as before.

comment Open the IGxDialog in MS Access 2010 using VBA
I tried to check out the ArcInfo license with this code and while it ran, once the file dialog opened Access again crashed just as before. Am I not checking out the correct license? I apologize I cannot get the code to appear correctly in this comment window. Dim pAoInitialize As IAoInitialize Set pAoInitialize = New AoInitialize Dim licenseStatus As esriLicenseStatus Dim productCode As esriLicenseProductCode productCode = esriLicenseProductCodeArcInfo licenseStatus = pAoInitialize.Initialize(productCode)
