I have a Bachelor of Science in Applied Geoinformatics, with my main areas of study being GIS, Computer Science, Geography and Environmental Studies, and Information Systems. I have always had a passion for computers and geography, so studying and working in the Geoinformatics field has given me the best of both worlds.

My questions/answers will be written in South African (UK) English - please do not "correct" my spelling.

comment How do you use Windows folders as acrpy Parameters
To overcome any ArcGIS debauchery with folders, I always use os.path.join. Always. Raw string if needed.

comment arcpy.da.Walk not adhering to datatype filter “Locator”
@ChrisR I assumed not adding any parameters would return everything by default. Either way, using the Any still only returned the feature classes, and not the locators.

comment arcpy.da.Walk not adhering to datatype filter “Locator”
@GISGe I'm on 10.3. I remember trying this in 10.2 as well, and it didn't work then either.

comment How do I generate a distance table using 2 different point files and a line file?
This may not be what you want to hear, but this does indeed sound like a Network Analysis problem, specifically a Closest Facility Analysis problem. You would of course then need to build a network dataset and go through all those steps. Otherwise you could do it in Python. The network analysis method might be worth it if you are using your street dataset for other analysis as well.

comment Label point according to cartographic representation position instead of geometry
I'm actually looking to link the purple labels (currently attached to the physical locations of the purple features) with the placement of the black cartographic representations of the purple features.

comment Using Update Cursor?
Are you running this in the Python window in ArcMap? You don't perhaps have one row selected in the feature class you are trying to update?

comment Using ArcGIS model to batch export set of layout view as JPEGs?
@GISGe you can use exportToJPEG when looping over the dataDrivenPages in arcpy to export multiple images, if the mxd has been set up with the data driven pages correctly.

comment ArcCatalog crashes when publishing a composite locator service
@JasonInVegas I used the answer below at the time, but it didn't work. After a few days I tried again through the normally publishing process and it worked. Nothing changed on the server during that time, so I chalked it up to ArcGIS needing one of its frequent nap times. I'm on 10.2.2, but am not sure if the composite locator issue has been resolved.
