comment Count the number of corners of a polygon
Wouldn't the count of corners be the same as the count of points (less one, since the start and end points are the same)? Obviously a "corner" in this case may not be very apparent to the eye; I guess it depends upon what you mean by corner.

comment Secure online GIS for sensitive data?
You can't have "easier data access" and "ensure security of data." The only secure system is one that is turned off. That being said, seek a good security consultant who's worked with GIS. They're going to be able to provide you with the best solution.

comment Esri Web side and Silverlight
I agree; unless you have a very specific reason to use Silverlight, stick with the "more generic". We have a Silverlight app that won't work for Linux users or anyone who doesn't have Silverlight installed. That's not a big deal since almost 100% of our users use Windows and have Silverlight installed, but the app could very easily have been written in Javascript and not precluded anyone from using it.

comment batch buffer with python in arcgis 10
@GISlove Ah, I thought you meant that you wanted to run all of the buffering jobs simultaneously. Batch buffering via python makes more sense.

comment batch buffer with python in arcgis 10
@GISlove Why would you need to buffer more than one feature class at a time? Just curious.

comment How far ESRI Technical Support goes?
Honestly, though, I don't know if I'd use automated systems. It's sort of like the troubleshooting tree I have to go through with the cable company. I know that I will eventually need to talk to a tech to solve my problem, so I just hit 0 to bypass the nonsense.

comment Data storage shared with co-worker
@PROBERT So there's no server in common between your two offices? If so, "the cloud" (Dropbox, Amazon Cloud Drive, etc.) is probably your best bet.

Could it be that HouseNum is not a valid column name for that layer, or that the data type is an integer and not a string?
