QGIS very slow startup on Mac Other than Google, have any troubleshooting steps been pursued such as to reset QGIS back to a default state? For example, moving/renaming/deleting the folder at /Users/<your username>/.qgis or perhaps the preference file at /Users/<your username>/Library/Preferences/org.qgis.QGIS.plist. There is also a chance the Console application may show some activity while QGIS is launching too. |

Performing Geoprocessing SQL Queries in QGIS from a PostGIS Database I had this problem when I initially started out with QGIS as well. The reason the query does not work within QGIS is because the Query editor treats the area which you can edit as an SQL WHERE clause. Take a look at Mapperz solution. |

How to prevent text labels from overlapping other markers? No, I have not attempted to do this. The main reason I have not altered the label positioning is because on other areas of the map (not pictured), the road network is considerably denser. In the example above, moving the icon by about 2mm (any direction) would correct the problem. However on other parts of the map, it would likely push the icon deeper into another label. |
