comment How to sort points in a proper order using arcpy?
I've left work and am on my phone now so can't write a proper answer. Look at the linear referencing tools. There's a lot of documentation and plenty of posts on this site about it.

If these points fall on a coastline, I suggest looking into the linear reference tools. The coastline would be your route layer and the points could be events along the route. This would solve your sorting problem. You'd calculate measures along the route.

From the documentation: "For the Field(s) parameter, sorting by the Shape field or by multiple fields is only available with an Advanced license. Sorting by any single attribute field (excluding Shape) is available at all license levels."

What license level of arcGIS do you have? If you have the Advanced level, you can change the line end type to Flat in the Buffer tool.

In your shape file writer, you specify the geometry type. You might need a second writer writing to the same file but with null geometry type. Can't remember exactly what it is called.

@dmahr, great second suggestion. Elegant.

comment Extracting color values from layer to build index using ArcPy/ArcMap?
Would it be feasible for you to save lyr files which store all those things? You could open all your layers into an MXD with all the symbology set. Then, iterate through them and use arcpy.SaveToLayerFile_management

comment Batch export all layers in ArcMap document that have selected features?
+1 SIslam, the way you've written now is better. However, you're incorrect about FeatureClassToFeatureClass. It will only export selected features if there is a selection. But if there is no selection, it will export the whole feature class. But the way you've rewritten it, it appears you realise that.

I think you misunderstood the question. The OP asks for exporting only selected features. Not layers which are visible.

Equal area projections are not suitable for measuring distances. Only areas.

This is not necessarily GIS related. It should be on the blender SE site.

comment Getting information out of an ArcGIS .lyr file
Look at the symbology tab of the properties dialog. Someone has set the descriptions based on the values.

I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because it doesn't fit within this scope of questions allowed on this site.

comment How to write feature types with different geometries using Schema(From Table) to FME FileGDB using FME?
I've tried doing this before. The issue I had was that I didn't have any features to add to the geodatabase and I couldn't create blank feature classes. I ended up writing the lines of the spreadsheet to the feature classes and then deleting them manually.

That works for small workspaces but not for very large ones.

comment FME - Is there a transformer to snap point on point of nearest line?
I think that's right. You may want to try both options and compare outputs. You can also use a neighbour finder if you want to identify closest points.

Units are the units of your coordinate system. It will snap to closest one unless there is a group by option. I'm on my phone so can't check that. But both point and line will need to have that attribute. That way you can force snapping on groups of features.
