I've been in the geospatial industry since 2002. I primarily use ArcGIS, MapInfo, and FME. But I'm interested in learning QGIS, GRASS and other open source GIS software. I'm also in the process of honing my Python skills. My current interest is in PostGIS.

comment How to change area inside mask to different RGB Value in ECW Format with FME
Is your polygon in the same coordinate system as your raster? FME doesn't reproject on the fly like other GIS programs. You may need to add a reprojector first. Otherwise, your polygon might not overlap the raster and therefore not behave as a mask.

+1 I was going to suggest intersecting the shapefiles with a UTM feature class.

comment Python syntax error -can't figure out why?
You have some indentation issues here. Python is heavily dependent on consistent indentation. Your while loops and if statements need to have indentation. Also, are you using this as a stand-alone script? Or a script tool? arcpy.GetParameterAsText(0) will only work in a tool.

Voting to close because the question hasn't had much activity in a year and a half. OP hasn't visited site since question was asked.

comment Unwanted dangle errors
You need to add more information to your question or it risks being closed. How is ArcGIS to know what is an error and what is not? In the topology toolset, you can easily flag a dangle as not an error. You just have to go through each one manually. Please edit your question to contain as much information as possible.

I'm assuming you have the Spatial Analyst Extension... Have you gone through the tutorials on that topic? What have you tried? What, specifically, do you need help with?

MapInfo has a distance tool: pbinsight.com/support/education/video-tutorials/detail/…. It's in the Tool Manager.

Do you have access to Business Analyst? You could try this: resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//…

comment Draw line between points from multiple datasets
This is one of those rare times when I can think of a way to do this in MapInfo but not in ESRI or QGIS. That script would be the way to go if it worked. What is the exact error you're getting in 10.2?

comment I have a WKT How can i put it to MAPINFOW.prj file
You'll need to add more information. You have a WKT file with a coordinate system. Do you have vector data that is not associated with a coordinate system? Or do you want to draw new data in that coordinate system?

comment Flag More Than One Space in SQL
Use the StringReplacer transformer, set it to use regular expressions. Put in "\s{2,}" (without the quotes) to search for and your replacement text will be a single space. That will search for 2 or more whitespace characters. Safe software recommends Rubular.com to test regular expressions. You build your expression at the top and put your test string below. It's how I've taught myself regular expressions.
