Ways to measure similarities/congruence of tracks (point features) in ArcGIS Antonio is right, I'm primarily interested in similarities of the paths. What I want to analyse is to which extend the runners' course decisions are random or influenced by topographical features. If the courses were completely random the paths would be all over the place. But they aren't. Even though the runners all ran independently (on different days), some of them seemed to make the same decisions with regard to the course the followed. I want to get a measure that allows it to determine which paths are similar to each other. |

ArcGIS - merge polygons and get combined area Thanks for the reply. I know I'm nearly there not just quite yet. I have merged the polygons, but I can't seem to figure out what the Dissolve tool does. The merged polygon's attribute table only features the individual areas for the original polygons... |

Change data type in Excel file before creation of feature class Sorry for the late reply. Yes, importing to a Personal GDB works as long as the time field is imported as text. Not quite what I had hoped for but at least I can add meaningful labels to my data points now. Thanks to both of you! |

Change data type in Excel file before creation of feature class Well, I've got 15 excel files with around 3-4 worksheets each. It would be quite a nuisance if I'd had to export each worksheet to CSV first. There must be a way to tell Arcatalog to use the correct data type... |

Change data type in Excel file before creation of feature class That would be a Shapefile. I am using the "Create Feature Class.. > From XY Table" function in ArcCatalog |
