@Nathanus I confess I just signed up..... It's true, but it really is focusing on every little detail about OSM many of which are programming related, and not specific to GIS. Though if subsites of subsites existed it would be perfect. The fonts over here are so much crisper!

Could you do the analysis in a software using a Cartesian system, and then just display the results? QGIS would be one free way of showing the results.

Just a note on this - it does work on the current release of QGIS that I am using (1.7), but it only allows very small areas to be downloaded.

Thanks, it's really useful to see how they structured their GIS data (a point for every road segment). Do you know if their approach is good? Their data structure does not show which direction people are traveling, but aside from that I can't think of any other problems.

comment Using ArcGIS 10 on a virtual machine with OSX
If I understand correctly, you are running the bootcamp partition as a virtual machine within OSX. Is that correct? My experience (and my IT's dept) have found this to be a lot slower than running a virtual machine by itself.

comment Is there a way to automate the preprocessing of LANDSAT data?
@BWill I think it would be best if you asked this question by itself. It's not really an answer to the current question, and you'll probably get a lot more relevant responses that way.
