@ChrisW I'm simply giving direction as to the most applicable options. If someone else wants to do the hand-holding then they are welcome to receive the merit for doing so.

@ChrisW It will work with such a limited subset of species.

Perhaps you should re-phrase your question then..

How would you assign the tolerance per point given that the radius is variable?

Without seeing your dataset, it sounds like you would need to process your data a bit before you can identify a solution. There's no way for the application to intelligently infer what order you expect the points to be in.

Check the attributes for any non UTF characters. If there are too many, try removing all fields you don't need for the analysis.

What file format are you working with? If it's text based, I would suggest converting the encoding to UTF-8.

comment How can I statistically calculate the “real” road from a set of GPS tracks
Interesting project - quite similar to an inspection algorithm I wrote years ago. Since I'm lazy, I can only offer a few hints. Most important factors are direction of travel, signal quality and your velocity (ie. if you're just standing around, it's not a road). Best to first cull the points that are too far off that way. Other than that, I'd apply a smoothing algorithm (try DP) then average the lines.

What method have you used to create the grid - there are many.

comment How to get bounding box coords?
You would need to georeference the image, either manually or in an application that does this. See this question for further information: gis.stackexchange.com/questions/63953/…
