comment Mosaic Aerial Photography Tiles to a Seamless Raster
Worked fantastic! Took about 12 hours to load all the tiles in, but it's working great. I'm going to continue using the raster catalog and also try and mosaic the catalog to a JP2 as well.

It's worth a shot. I had used these in the past, but found the file sizes (when sharing over a network) where much larger than working with a Mosaic-ed JP2. I'll let you know how the process goes. In the meantime, if anyone has any other suggestions I all ears.

@vince Windows Explorer isn't necessary, case sensitive would be for sure though. The answer below, really demonstrates what I was looking for.

Beauty answer! I think I'd change: f == x to f.upper() == x.upper() That way there is no way to hase case sensitive things get in the way. It'll also be great to work in a wildcard into it as well.

@BradNesom The ArcCatalog Search function is horrendous. It works when search ArcGIS Tools, but for finding data, it's almost impossible to use / configure. By the time you've indexed data got the ArcCatalog search to find it, you will have found it already.

@Vince yes they are tables, but in no way (that I know of) can you search the basic tables in windows explorer and relate them to the spatial data sets that they make up.

I understand that Geodatabases only have tables, but those tables make up spatial datasets. I want to be able to query them, not the tables @Vince .

comment Most Effective Format to Manage Aerial Photography for Viewing Only
JP2 ended up being my choice as its a good format and met all my requirements. It also is much more widely known, which is essential when talking to people who don't know a whole lot about air photo's. Calling a tile a JPG or JP2 can help some people understand what your talking about.

@blah238 I have a few different data sets. Small LiDAR samples, cross sections, building plans, contours. All things that its great to see in 3D to find out-liers.
