comment Where can I find GDAL bindings for Python 3.3?
Thanks Martin. I have been to Tamas's site but did not notice the bindings before. While we are still not seeing Py33, I will settle for Py32 now, and was able to get GDAL working.

comment Why does Ogr2Ogr Postgres import fail?
I don't think that is the issue. When I use inserts instead of copy by removing PG_USE_COPY setting, the process has a few warnings but no errors, and goes through fine.

comment Latest version of ogr2ogr fails with Layer Creation
Thanks Frank. That seem to work without errors (but lots of warnings though). My database needs to get refreshed periodically based on S57 updates, so a complete overwrite is not a concern.

comment Automated testing for GIS apps
In tools like Selenium or QTP, you can compare data only. Eggplant purports you compare images also. I have apps that I need to test when I add a layer to a map, does it show the way its intended, for that bounding box and that base map? And does it maintain compatibility across various browsers and mobile devices, do the reprojections match - that sort of stuff. I only know of doing that through manually today by looking at images and comparing them against a baseline output. If there is a way to do this through a script, that reduces time to test. And I am in no way associated with Eggplant.

comment Is there an exhaustive, searchable catalog of all GIS web services (e.g. OGC WMS/WFS, REST, SOAP)?
It is a shame that all these data-assets are not easily discoverable, even after OGC created CSW standard. This either needs to be pursued by an International Governance Agency or may be I should just build one and Crowdsource it :-)

comment How to design markers - raster or vector?
Thanks Geert. Yes, this is one way to implement sizing of markers. The concern I have is that raster images (PNG, TIFF) don't work all that well compared to vector formats in zooming in/ out. Are there other examples of SVG based markers?

I did run into Skylab before, but their links are all dead, and their new URL does not work either.

Yes, OWS also states that their service is going to be taken down soon as Yahoo has started charging for searches. May be that is why it's down...

comment Is there an image service from GOES available for ArcGIS?
The upcoming NOAA site is developed in Adobe Flex - now Apache Flex, that uses flash. It is unfortunate that most of us using iOS devices are shut-out, we need a PC. What's funny is this is their next-gen attempt to revamp the older site that shows its age ocs-spatial.ncd.noaa.gov/encdirect/viewer.htm

comment Should I use OpenLayers or Leaflet?
Yes. I am currently building mobile apps using OpenLayers and SenchaTouch. There are plenty of mobile map apps running on Openlayers. Here are some examples openlayers.org/dev/examples/?q=mobile.

comment How current is GDAL in Java
This seems to be a wrapper to C++. Is there an all Java implementation of GDAL and OGR?

Hi Mapperz - I am looking for markers resizing based on zoom levels. These appear to be the same size.

comment What are some good examples of geospatial UI's
Nice. Openlayers seems to have most of what I am looking for. I rather stick to that, as I need to present google, live and ArcGIS maps as basemap options.

comment Caching for dynamic layers
Layers are features that portray different aspects of a location. Here is an example/ portrayal of various layers that collectively can be overlayed on a base map thepiazza.org.uk/bb/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2057. The dynamic layers means you can selectively turn-on or turn-off a layer.

Can you share more examples? While this site has a ton of features, I am looking for something more simple. An easy way to draw, measure, query points inside polugon etc.
