Follow the intersect and area calculation above with Summary Statistics, using the landcover class, buffer size, and unique ID field and/or X and Y fields for the coordinate as the case fields to help aggregate the calculation that sums the area.

comment How to exclude some parts of raster classes based on size of area?
What is the file format of your in_table? Summary Statsitics help indicates you can use "an INFO table, a dBASE table, an OLE DB table, a VPF table, or a feature class." Try exporting the attribute table to one of those types and then input to Summary Statistics.

The 'p' variable would have to be defined as a wild_card or raster_type when used in ListRasters; e.g. p = "TIFF" in a line previous to arcpy.ListRasters("*", p). The code sample in the online link @Nathan W indicated above will show you the possible parameters.
