comment Crop and reproject shapefile based on GeoTIFF sample
Nice tip. I tried to reproject and clip at the same time, but I put -clipdst before the filenames, so it didn't work, and I didn't read the error message carefully about partial reprojection possiblity with OGR_ENABLE_PARTIAL_REPROJECTION nor I would have known how to define that option ;)

comment Crop and reproject shapefile based on GeoTIFF sample
Thanks, it was countries shapefile, but I managed to get correct output by first cropping to outer rectangle of GeoTIFF file, then reprojecting and then clipping to projected coordinates. I was just hoping that straightforward approach of using georeferenced file as reference exists in gdal/org system.

Projecting whole globe to destination projection is not possible, so I have to crop the source first, and that is where I stopped in the first place as corner coordinates are not forming rectangle in Natural Earth shapefile source projection. Any suggestions?

comment Query PostGIS database without creating primary key
Sorry, it's my fault. Before issuing PostgreSQL layer has no primary key. there was one more message: Duplicate field Code found. So that was the real reason why the query didn't load as layer - latter message seems like result from the previous fault.

comment Will ogr2ogr correctly merge features from several OSM files to resulting set
osm2pgsql (as least the version I tried on Windows) does not create primary key, and I guess other OS versions does not too, as osm_id is not unique.

comment How to migrate PostGIS spatial data to MsSql spatial data?
very cool spartan program, you just copy/paste layers between servers, and it does the rest for you

comment Export GeoJSON to MSSQL with UTF-8 encoding
Well, open ticket you linked and this question show that there is no way to import Unicode with org2org to mssqlserver. UTF-8 data is passed to mssqlserver, but it doesn't recognize it as such because the column type is set to varchar instead nvarchar. If column is set to nvarchar, mssqlserver would apparently import UTF-8 data and convert it on the fly to it's Unicode encoding variant - UTF-16LE.

So this task is impossible currently. Thanks for the information.

It's just the same. Both GeoJSON and now converted GML, render fine in UTF-8 text editor, but not in database table.
