Ahh multi point. You can use the tools in QGIS to split them into single point objects.

Couldn't you just delete the points from the layer?

comment Why does multi-threaded rendering not use all the CPU potential in QGIS 2.4?
Maybe I/O is the bottle neck for QGIS here because it's not getting enough data to render at 100%. I'll update the wiki for the project to show you how to run it on Windows.

comment How to convert Mapinfo “.Map” file (without .TAB) into SHP?
A tab file is just text you can hand craft it if you know what is inside the files

I'm also not sure I would want it to use 100% CPU, I normally have other things going on at the same time.

What other data can you provide? Stuff like datasource, map styles, etc are handy to know. Could you also run it though my program qgis2img to get some render benchmarks github.com/DMS-Aus/qgis2img

Are you doing QgsApplication.initQGis before anything else?

comment Replacing PyQt4 with PySide with standalone QGIS
Flexible in what sense? QGIS is still GPL as is anything made with it.

comment How can I improve the speed at which QGIS 2.4 handles network data? (Seems much slower than 2.2 - even with small datasets)
I have tracked this down to a bug in GDAL 64bit (the beep). See this ticket here: hub.qgis.org/issues/10746

I wonder if the slow speeds and sound are somehow related.

Strange. Others have reported this also but QGIS doesn't do anything sound related. I wonder if it's a Qt bug of some sort.

Do you get the sound when using local files?
