comment Import csv file and use “toggle editing” and “field calculator” without Saving it as a Shapefile.
As far as I know, no. It brings it in as a non editable 'virtual layer' - you must save it to an OGR editable file first.

comment Can the software be installed silently?
@LDFerg: No, if you install via the OSGEO4W package, everything is contained in the install folder. Give it a try, I suspect it will work for you.

comment QGIS - Continuous buffer image [Heat Map]
Giulio; the effect you are looking for is a raster operation (rather than vector) and is called a heat map. Try a search for QGIS and heat map and you will find lots of options.

comment GRASS v.Overlay/QGIS Intersect Speed intersecting line and polygon
Great! You may want to submit your description files to @Victor Olaya (Sextante/Processing developer) and he will roll it into the release so others can benefit! – Darren Cope 29 mins ago

comment GRASS v.Overlay/QGIS Intersect Speed intersecting line and polygon
@BJEBN; unfortunately I don't have time right now to try a benchmark, but another thought may be to try the 64bit version of QGIS available as an experimental build from trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w (assuming you're on a 64bit machine) and see if the processing time is any faster. Otherwise, you could add the GRASS v.split and v.overlay to the Processing toolbox - not that hard to do following the instructions here: fossies.org/linux/misc/qgis-2.0.1.tar.gz:a/qgis-2.0.1/python/…

comment How to calculate mean coordinates from big point datasets?
If you're on a 64 bit Windows machine, try the experimental build of 64bit OSGEO4W (trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w) I've had good luck with it being faster/less 'crashy' on big tasks.

you should try a benchmark using OGR directly: darrencope.com/2011/03/31/clipping-large-shapefiles-using-ogr - you can use that in the Processing toolbox as well.

comment How to specify cost attributes for network analysis in QGIS using the GRASS plugin?
user21965: It looks like you're right. I agree with @markusN that it's a bug. Luckily you can do this easily via command line (see grass.osgeo.org/grass65/manuals/v.net.iso.html) and still visualize results in QGIS :)

Sorry. I see now what you did. The npa/plz fields are your key columns. See my answer below.

What operating system are you on? For Windows, try OSGEO4W - it installs everything into a directory, which can just be copied to any other computer.

It looks like you don't have a key field to join on that is in both tables.

You can also select the appropriate row in the attribute table and copy it to the clipboard and it will copy WKT as well.

comment How to merge close points into polygon?
Do the points you want to cluster all have the same ID? (e.g. are there 6 distinct IDs in your example image, one per polygon you would like to create?)

comment How to create a customizabe table in QGIS Print Composer?
@RyanGarnett no worries. I have had bad luck with Inkscape, and think I just need to dedicate more time to figuring it out! It's likely user error :) In the meantime, I was able to create the table how I wanted it in Excel, then create a high-res image of it which I inserted into my QGIS composer layout. Not ideal, but worked for this job.

@Zach. You're welcome. Hopefully one of the solutions worked for you. If so, consider accepting the answer, or asking more questions to follow up.

comment KML to shape QGIS conversion
@marty_c; I think it is doing what it is designed to do, yes. In this case, the data in the description field just happens to be an HTML table. As for how to parse it out; that's a great question. Perhaps you could reword the question above (or start a new one?) to specifically ask it?
