comment How to stop features to redraw unwillingly in OpenLayers
Hi ahocevar and thank you very much for the reply and answer! You are correct I'm using the BBOX strategy but by raising the ratio the problem dissapear. I guess the down side of this is that more features than needed are retreived, but thats not an issue in this case (for now at least). Br Mike

Hi Mapperz and thanks for the reply I'm not quite sure that I understand what you mean in how the answer in the other question would help me. I have features that are polygons. And the problem occurs when Im modifying one of them. I could try to have a extra wfs layer only for the feature that the user currently is editing. But my guess is that won't help if that only feature is complex enough. Or am I missing your point?

comment How to access an wms layer that requires authorization via OpenLayers?
>But if it is a wms layer that needs authorization, you cant use jsonp format can you? If so I have done it wrong when I tried. Or rather, it works in IE8 (but I get the same warning message as when not using jsonp), but not on Firefox or Chrome. My code is jQuery.support.cors = true; $.ajax( { 'password' : 'passw', 'username' : 'user', 'url' : url, 'type' : 'POST', 'datatype' : 'jsonp', 'crossDomain' : true ,'success' : function(){ alert("succ") }, 'error' : function(err){ alert("Err" + err)}, } );

But in your solution you still have the cross site scripting problem, dont you?

Could you please provide an example? I have tried: try { URL url = new URL ("geoserver/…); String encoding = Base64Encoder.encode ("user:passw"); HttpURLConnection con= (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection(); con.setRequestMethod("POST"); con.setDoOutput(true); con.setRequestProperty ("Authorization", "Basic " + encoding); InputStream content = (InputStream)con.getInputStream(); } catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); }
