I think that the way to go is to render polygons with just fill and create a planar graph for coloring the edges. If the edges in the planar graph have attributes for the left side face and right side face you should be able to make the coloring as you wish. I don't know graph tools of QGIS but OpenJUMP seems to create graph tables which have all the necessary information. Some extra work will be needed to join attributes from faces to edges, though. | |
