Mar 28, 2012 at 16:39 comment added whuber An alternative take on RAM is to get as much RAM capacity as you can afford but--because ArcGIS currently cannot use much at all--leave it unpopulated. RAM prices drop so precipitously that it can make sense to purchase it only when it's actually needed.
