Aug 29, 2012 at 20:44 comment added whuber The TI doesn't show much until you're well out of the zone, @Matt: it will look exactly like the TI for a Mercator projection (as shown in your question) but rotated 90 degrees. (I would like to answer the other TI question you reference, but it calls for a detailed calculation and I just don't have the time to present that right now.)

My mathematically challenged brain wants an accompanying visual to help interpret the quantitative results, something a la Tissot Indicatrix. (I was about to add "but that's a new question", only it turns out not to be so: gis.stackexchange.com/questions/31651/… :-)
