@bcresearcher Just a guess, but try a different spatial interpolation function (i.e. other than tin() ) in lasnormalize() .

Dec 7, 2019 at 23:34 | comment | added | bcresearcher | @Aaron thanks a lot. My chm model has a lot of pits and I wanted to get rid of them. Therefore I used pit-free algorithm introduced by Khosravipour et al. (2014). The chm that I see now surrounded by triangular spahes. Is that an error? I could not get it.

Dec 7, 2019 at 23:22 | comment | added | bcresearcher | Thanks a lot for your answers. I used the pit-free algorithm and used chm = grid_canopy(filtered, res=0.5, pitfree(c(0,2,5,10,15), c(0, 1.5))) at the final step. But I have too much triangles on my chm model now :(

Dec 7, 2019 at 22:39 | comment | added | JRR | I do not necessarily agree with you. If you remove point below 2 you will have empty areas in your CHM for canopy gaps instead of zeros or values close to 0. Worst with a tin-based method you could fill the gap with irrelevant values. It can makes sense, or not depending on the method used and depending on what you want to do with your CHM.
