Speeding Up ArcGIS, redrawing sooooo Redrawing slow! in ArcMap

I just updated ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) to 10.1 and it is so slow. When I load my template mxds they can take 30 plus seconds. And and if I have to change the view it's another 30 seconds.

Does anyone have any ideas or methods to speed up the loading and redrawing purpose?
