The Attributes Table contains many rows after Step 3 and after Step 4 one is remaining. Seems as if I am doing something wrong. - The polyline data in Step 1 is retrieved using OpenStreetMap Vector commands as described in the beginning of your post, correct?

After Step 9 the Attributes Table contains one row: |4064462|Moltkestraße| . Can you confirm this?

No, you have to Rightclick -> Save As ... . Set CRS will not reproject the coordinates. OSM data is in degrees, and you don't want a 10 degrees buffer (That's your eggshape). Choosing a small degree value is also possible.

Can you please confirm I am doing the following steps correct? Step 2: I choose Set Layer CRS and select WGS 84 / UTM zone 32N . Can you explain why I have to reproject the layer? Step 3: When I process the layer this results in a egg-shaped thing for Muenster.
