I have created a map with geoserver and postgresSQL. I have managed in geoserver to seed the layers into tiles but for some reason as you view across the map, it does not create those tiles. For instance, if I seeded the layer till zoom 11 and wanted to view at zoom level 20, I could but it does not seem to create the tiles for a later stage nor make it more effective or faster. Also when I set a bounding area in the seeding form section, it gives me http 500 error and I'm not sure why.

I have set up geoserver and placed the folder for the tiles for the geowebcache.

I am using the intergrated geowebcache that comes with geoserver. The logs don't seem to show if there is something wrong.

Any help will be grateful.

  • How are you navigating the map at zoom level 20? Are you using the GWC endpoint or the WMS endpoint for this? – Devdatta Tengshe Sep 9 '14 at 10:49
  • Im not sure I understand what you mean sorry – Ravyn Sep 9 '14 at 10:57
  • you said that you are viewing the data at zoom level 20. How are you looking at the data? Which API or library are you using to look at the data? – Devdatta Tengshe Sep 9 '14 at 10:59
  • I am using open layer to view the map not the one tht comes with geoserver but a little program that was put together to show the map as a whole – Ravyn Sep 9 '14 at 11:01
  • In this OpenLayers programme, how is the data being accessed? Is it being accessed from the WMS service? or from GWC service? – Devdatta Tengshe Sep 9 '14 at 11:03
