Are there any advantages/disadvantages to setting up QGIS server on 64bit ubuntu vs 32bit?

I have got it running on both but differences are not apparent to me.

  • The 32-bit instruction set is smaller than the 64-bit, so the difference is usually a wash until you need to address more than a gigabyte of RAM in one process. This isn't really a GIS-specific issue, however, and might be better addressed elsewhere. – Vince Apr 12 '15 at 11:41
  • officially 32 bit system can recognize 232 (4294967296) bytes or 4096 MB, but a 64-bit system can address 264 bytes (about 16 exbibytes) – Mapperz Apr 13 '15 at 1:21
