  • Can you give more info on how you installed it? Did you have OGR python bindings installed? – mgc Feb 29 '16 at 20:05
  • What are you interested specifically in using Fiona for? – whyzar Feb 29 '16 at 20:09
  • Honestly i don't even know at this point. pip was crashing with the vcvarsall.bat error. Installed visual c for python, pip started crashing with an issue finding a header (*.h) file. I think I downloaded a binary wheel and may have installed that. I'm starting to think pip is 90% worthless (at least on windows). Not sure about ogr, but pip blows up installing gdal. – Mike Bannister Feb 29 '16 at 20:10
  • @whyzar - Pulling in shape files to process with shapely. Up to now I've been using arcpy. I partially want to use fiona/shapely because it may be faster than arcpy, partial due to curiosity, and partially to stay away from ESRI. – Mike Bannister Feb 29 '16 at 20:27
  • @MikeBannister, I was asking because I came across this post thought maybe it may still be relevant for your case, not sure thought. – whyzar Feb 29 '16 at 20:32
