When drawing a new Feature or editing an existing Feature it is possible to open the sketch tool by right-clicking onto the feature. This is not working anymore, the menu is not showing. The mouse works fine. The Feature class/shapefile is also not the problem. I have already tested several Options to fix, but none of them have worked so far:

  • Close ArcMap, Restart PC
  • Reset the context menu in the customize mode
  • Deleting Normal.mxt
  • Update ArcGis from 10.2.2 to 10.3.1

    Any suggestions/help?

The behaviour you describe does not sound familiar to me but maybe it is just that we have been using different terminology and versions.

At about 10.2.2 the Create Features window ceased to open when you started editing.

You now need to choose it from the right-hand end of the Editor toolbar.

It is from the bottom panel of the Create Features window that you choose the sketch tool after choosing your editing template from the top panel.

  • Sorry I meant the sketch menu, not the sketch tool. The sketch menu which allows you to insert and delete vertices, flip/trim, finish sketch etc. is not appearing.. – gisgsi Aug 31 '16 at 12:27
