I have just been provided with ITN and Urban Paths data for a certain area and need to create a working network, preferably multi-modal for cyclists and drivers. I've never worked with the raw data before. I unzipped the file to find two geodatabases without feature datasets, there are simply a large number of tables, a line feature class (the roads), a polygon feature class and several point feature classes. Some of the feature classes are empty. I'm unsure what files I need to create the network. I have also read online that the files usually need converting, but I don't know if this is true in this case as they are already in a database.

These are the feature classes which contain data, and the tables with information within them.

This is the contents of the ITN database. I was provided with a zipped file and this is its exact contents.

  • I would start by trying to create the simplest Network Dataset possible using your data. When you get stuck ask about that specifically based on what you have actually tried. – PolyGeo Jan 19 '17 at 11:46
  • I know how to create the network, I just don't know how to prepare raw ITN data for use in Network Analyst. – AJIKenyon Jan 19 '17 at 12:19
  • What is the first step that you usually perform when creating a network dataset? What happens when you try doing that on raw ITN data? – PolyGeo Jan 19 '17 at 12:31
  • "two geodatabases without feature classes with all the data in." - do you mean that you have only geodatabase tables? If so, how many? What names? What fields? – PolyGeo Jan 19 '17 at 12:34
  • 'new>network dataset' however, the data is not in feature dataset, and i'm unsure which of the ITN datasets I should move to create a feature dataset appropriate. – AJIKenyon Jan 19 '17 at 12:37
