I'm suffering from really long calculation times (16 hours) for Viewshed Analysis. Viewshed2 can use GPU (see http://support.esri.com/technical-article/000012100) It is said, that CUDA compute capability 2.0 or OpenCL 1.2 is required.

Does it mean that only Quadro GPUs can be used?

Has anyone experience with AMD Radeon Pro WX 4100 or with GeForce GTX models?

I was doing a Viewshed 2 calculation with 3 observer points, DEM with 1m raster, outer circle 5km in arcGIS 10.4 for Desktop with i7-2600, 8GB RAM, FirePro V4800 and it was running for a full 16 hours.

  • Having the Nvidia Quadro M2000 hothardware.com/reviews/… there is huge performance gains in the processing times we benchmarked from old pc and found with CUDA and RAM boost 8>32GB there was an 63% gain in speed/processing. – Mapperz Feb 28 '17 at 20:18
