The first time I heard of GeoJSON was two days ago and I never worked with AutoCAD before, too. At least I was able to convert from DWG to DXF already (Does someone know a way to do this over the Windows console?) and then I tried to convert the file from DXF to a GeoJSON, but when I openend it in any online GeoJSON Viewer, it really didn't look like the DXF. Text, colors and some elements are missing. For the conversion I used GDAL and the command:

ogr2ogr -f geojson output.geojson input.dxf

The final result will be displayed in an online application called "servicenow" and will be used to display floor plans. Therefore I don't want to mark something on a map, but just want to have a floor plan as a GeoJSON file. Are there any viewers which just show the plan on not any map in the background?

  • Most GIS formats do not have a fixed way for including rendering styles, even there are some examples like KML and MapInfo. For me it seems that GeoJSON is not the best format for your use case. If you do not play with maps I would suggest to have a look at CAD viewers. – user30184 Apr 8 '18 at 19:39
  • Thank you for your answer. Sadly, this plugin for this platform doesn't support any other file format, but I could try to include a CAD viewer into this platform. If someone still knows a good way, please comment :) – Yanamo Apr 9 '18 at 6:14
  • You can show GeoJSON data without any background maps with for example QGIS or OpenJUMP. – user30184 Apr 9 '18 at 6:34
