I’m trying to make a point file with elevations using the tutorials I’ve found on youtube. The conversion seems to work like it should but when I import the points into a CAD program the contours are correct but they are separated an equal distance vertically. Is there a setting I’m missing? Can post a picture if need be.

That seem right, contour line are generally set at an equal interval from each other. In other word contour line display all the point at a given elevation so if you get contour line for say 150m, 250m, 350m .... each line is 100m higher than the preceding line...
