I need to create grid cells (square =1000*1000 meter or 500*500 meter) by ArcGIS through the geographic coordinate system. It worth to be noted that the latitude coordinates between 22~23 degree.

  • I already use this tools but what is the value of cell size width and hight – Ahmad Suliman Jun 29 '18 at 14:12

Rectangles are the right shape in decimal degrees. If you create in a projected coordinate system, then deproject, you'll better understand the situation. – Vince Jun 29 '18 at 14:21

The length of a cell/feature will change with latitude if your dataset is in WGS84. You need to project your dataset to a suitable coordinate system for your region of interest. Then running fish net will create square cells. – Hornbydd Jun 29 '18 at 14:21

One can create rectangles with a fixed width and variable height, scaled so that area is constant (or within a close tolerance of constant). – Vince Jun 30 '18 at 1:10
