I am using the print composer to create a map of thousand different polygon features which also include point features inside of it (these are highlighted on the map if they relate to that polygon).

I use predefined scales to set the scale of the map automatically. However, the problem I have is that some of related point features might not be completely visible on the map because they are at the very border of that polygon.

The following example doesn't show an example of a highlighted point feature, but I think you know what I mean:

Is it possible to use predefined scales with margin? Only the margin solution is also not good, because sometimes I have very small polygons, which makes the satellite photo in the back useless.

  • It seems your issue is that labels, not features, get cut off in print composer. I have this issue all the time, and there's not a great solution for it. You can use manual label placement to fix individual labels, but it's not a scalable solution. – csk Jul 6 '18 at 18:37
