I have a road data (line vector) which consist of a few lines and I have the length of each line segment. I want to split it into segments of 100m. When I used v.split tool, apart from 100m segments, I get lots and lots of 0.1m, 0.11 etc etc. These are in huge numbers. Can some one tell me what to do to force the line segments to be exactly 100m.enter image description here

  • Are you using the option to "force segments to be of given length" ? – csk Sep 27 '18 at 17:22
  • I used that, but no use. The output still has huge number of tiny segments. – sudheesh Sep 27 '18 at 18:03
  • I took a 167 km road and when i applied v.split function to get 100m units, i got 6000 plus units. When i added the tiny parts of lengths 0.1m, the sum is nearly 2km. – sudheesh Sep 28 '18 at 19:06
  • I'm having a similar problem. In my case, it seems the v.split tool divides the whole line into simple two-nodes lines, instead of splitting by the "Maximum segment length" (having activated the "Force segments to be exactly ..."). Any solution ?? Same result using QGIS 3.0, 3.2 and 3.4 ![v.split result](i.stack.imgur.com/FrhKA.png) – Joanpe Dec 14 '18 at 10:11
