I am looking for a workflow to improve the visual appearance of a municipal centerline shapefile that I will be using for some mapping outputs. It is a standard line segment vector layer. I have attached a screenshot of it below: Centerline

The layer clearly is jagged especially around curves. I've used the "smooth" tool in the editor bar but found that while the lines are smoother, they almost become distorted and outwardly bulbous as a result even at only an offset setting of "1."

I have also used the "smooth lines" algorithm in the toolbox but am having a hard time seeing any difference once that tool has run. Is there a recommended workflow to improving this layer?
