I am new to QGIS. I have a road network layer in QGIS. I can compute the shortest path between the two points over the road network layer via network analysis toolbox in QGIS.

I am interested in generating k-shortest paths between two points. I would like to ask if QGIS offers this functionality or is it possible to use additional plugins/python scripts to do the job.

Have you tried looking at pgRouting? This uses a fairly comprehensive list of functions based on time or distance.

  • I have had a look at the pgRouting but the QGIS layer which I have does not have nicely laid out vertices! – Salil Sharma Nov 8 '18 at 14:09
  • What do you mean they are not nicely laid out? Do you have the data in a database? – Dave C Nov 8 '18 at 14:52
  • If you have it in PostgreSQL/PostGIS you can runa topology function to create the network whereby pgRouting will work. – Dave C Nov 8 '18 at 14:53
  • I have created empty 'source' and 'target' column but I do not have any 'the_geom' column. – Salil Sharma Nov 8 '18 at 15:47
  • You need to create a geometry for your network then. You can do this i nthe field calculator or by importing it into a database. I would recommend putting it in PostgreSQL even if its a locally hosted version. It will probably run a lot smoother. – Dave C Nov 8 '18 at 15:49
