I had an excel sheet listing addresses that I imported into ArcGIS and geocoded which created a File Geodatabase Feature Class of all the points. I am trying to display the map where it disperses points that are overlapping, but it keeps telling me the input is wrong for the tool Disperse Markers (Geocoding_result.lyr does not contain representations)...to what and how do I convert the geocoded results to have the correct input to use for the tool Disperse Markers? Using ArcGIS 10.5

1.lyr files don't contain geometries (they only contains symbologies). You need to work with a file that contains geometries– ValeNov 8, 2018 at 15:49

okay do you think it would work if I converted it to a shapefile?– tugboat789Nov 8, 2018 at 15:53

Don't you have a feature class of the points? the feature class have geometries– ValeNov 8, 2018 at 15:54

forgive my confusion- when I go to the excel sheet from the catalog and click "geocode addresses" it creates a File Geodatabase Feature Class. and when i go to input that into the tool it won't work.– tugboat789Nov 8, 2018 at 16:12

1figured it out! right clicking on the layer allows me to see a "convert symbology to representation", which worked– tugboat789Nov 8, 2018 at 17:28
