Is there a method to show only a select number of features within a layer in an ArcGIS Story Map?

I have to add a .GPX file to a Map Journal style Story Map and am unable to do any processing on it. The .GPX file has 5 features, but only 3 random ones will need to be shown.

When editing the map, and using the Show Selected Features in the table, all the features are still visible. The selected features are only highlighted.

My current workaround is to set the transparency to 100% for the 2 alternate features, but it would be nice for them to not show up at all.

  • How/When are you deciding which features need to be shown? – MapinTX Nov 19 '18 at 18:01
  • The features will be chosen at random when the story map is being made. It is for a live demonstration. There will be shapefile backups, but ideally a .gpx file would be downloaded directly from the device and the data added to the story map. – Adam Thom Nov 19 '18 at 18:18
  • Are the features being chosen manually within the story map (ex person selects features 2,3,4 manually from the attribute table) or is the selection automated? – MapinTX Nov 19 '18 at 18:25
  • The features will be selected manually within the story map. – Adam Thom Nov 19 '18 at 18:30
