I am trying to intersect a SpatialPolygonsDataframe with a SpatialPointsDataframe. The dataset I want to intersect is quite large which is why I cannot easily make a reproducible code. If anyone could give me hint how I can sample from the dataframes to make a reproducible code it would be great. I get an large SpatialPointsDataframe by running

point.in.poly()

or

over()
