To save time, is there any way to automate the task of replacing field names with the alias names by a join. For example the census data may have a 100's of fields with a coded name (like B00987d) with a master metadata table with the code name and the description. Which means searching the master table, finding the coded name in the feature, entering the description. In an ArcGIS Online map I have a theme where I have to type in 30 aliases. Sure would be nice to join the table containing the description to the alias field all at once. Or why can't field names be longer with spaces? Then there would not be a problem to solve.
