I have a postgreSQL database layer (with a postgis extension) that updates every 5 minutes and is creating points of the current location of ships. I can't seem to figure out how to connect the points based on the timestamps.

I saw few methods with plug-ins but most of them are creating a new layer but then the database connection is lost.

Is there a way to use the geometry calculator in the symbology tap? because it is just for visualization.

Did u check the postgis ST_makeline documentation ? It seems to me that one of the code sample is exactly what you need (even sorting points by timestamps) ... It looks wiser to me to try to achieve what you want directly in Postgis ... – snaileater Feb 11 at 14:05
  • Thanks, will have a look at that, might be easier and way more convenient. – Cas Julicher Feb 11 at 15:00
