I have a population data at census tracts level and an impervious land cover. Impervious land cover is of 30 m resolution and census tracts data stored as a vector. Is there any way that I can proportion the Census Track population according to the imperviousness level for the grid cells inside each Census Track. The outcome should be a gridded population file.

I am not sure if zonalstatistics can do this?

Shapefiles are vector-based and do not have a resolution. You might mean that your shapefile was derived from a 30-m product. You also don't mention how the Census Track data are stored--raster or vector? Did you try zonal statistics? What happened? – Jon Mar 13 '19 at 15:55
