Canopy openness of trees was obtained easily from digital photographs processed with Gap Light Analyzer. Image processing involves the transformation of image by the division of pixel intensities into sky and non-sky classes. It is possible to use RGB mosaic from UAV orthorectified aerial images for the same objective, despite aerial images take images from sky and now the division of pixel intensities needs to be transformed into canopy and non-canopy classes? If yes, the are any approach for this?
